A Bit of Mom Encouragment

I just found this unpublished post that I started on 12/5/20 haha! I enjoyed reading back on it, so I'm just going to add to it at the end.

 Hi mama's!

I've had a rough couple of days physically. Yesterday I had three appointments scheduled but had to cancel them all Thursday because one of my littles woke sick. It worked out really, really well though as I came down with a massive headache by noon.

Bleh.

I'm still fighting it today, but that's normal for me. It's painful, exhausting, and kinda frustrating not being able to get up and do my job.

What a blessing it was to watch my family step up. All ages too! I didn't make a PSA that I was down for the count, I just went to bed. But word trickled out and pretty soon my oldest two had taken over food and helping care for kids. My husband was off and it was so nice to have him around too.

The house kept running pretty smooth, everyone was taken care of and fed. I didn't really have to give any sort of direction at all! I did get up for a bit to fold some laundry because my legs were getting super achy and restless. Staying laying down wasn't an option for that reason. After being up and using those muscles, I put the heating pad on, along with some Arnica Cream and I was able to stay in bed for the rest of the day.

My encouragement to you mama's is to not grow weary in your training. Spiritual training is the highest priority, along with character training, which you could say is in the same category. But also don't grow weary of training your kids to run the house. Will they do it to your standards? Probably not. But that's okay!! Things will keep running and everyone will be taken care of.

Our oldest is 16 now, so between her and the next oldest (11.5), things were done almost to my standards. It's amazing to see them grow in their abilities. to watch as they develop techniques, and generally learn how to do things better and better.

It's been frustrating at times over the years to teach a child to do a job the right way. But stick with it and it pays off.

It can be exhausting putting new systems in place, but stick with it and it pays off.

There are so many seasons of life where you might not be able to do your job fully - morning sickness, birth, postpartum recovery, basic illness, headaches, injuries.....when you have only littles it's much harder, but you can still begin that training. Use God's Word in a very practical way.

*fast forward almost 5 years to my current life*

So many things happened during those "unpublished years" And time and time again I saw what a blessing it is to involve my kids in the day to day stuff, to take time to counsel and disciple, and to teach them about Christ.

Just a few weeks after I started writing this post I was put on bedrest at 22 weeks pregnant with #9. That started a very hard season for us. But we got through it! By the grace of GOD. We grew closer to Christ, became stronger in our character, grew closer to each other, and went through many character training sessions. 😀

We don't know what the future holds and we need to be prepared, in all the ways, for whatever GOD has for us.

Don't grow weary!! Galatians 6:9
